THE DUNE PLANTATION OF TORNBY KLITPLANTAGE

Tornby Klitplantage is a typical plantation on the west coast, situated by the coastline just a few kilometres south of Hirtshals. This plantation was established from 1910 to 1930. The vegetation border towards the sea follows a 15-25 metres tall former sea slope which is divided by river valleys. At the slope base, you will find yourself standing on a raised Stone Age seabed featuring white sea dunes. Tornby Klitplantage offers various activities, including mountain bike trails, riding trails, hiking routes and cycle paths. Here you can also visit the Viking fortress of Yxenborg which is used for plays and other cultural events.
