Filsø is the 6th largest lake in Denmark, and it features an absolutely unique natural area which serves as a resting place for 234 different bird species. From 1940 to 1947, the lake was drained off for agricultural purposes but in 2021, the lake was re-established as one of the largest nature restoration projects in Denmark. The foundation of Aage V. Jensens Naturfond owns this area. The place features several birdwatching towers and at the farm of Filsøgård you find a small visitorcenter and the Ellipse Bridge which was established in 2017. You can follow panoramic route 406 around the lake.
