Bagges Dæmning is located towards the northern end of the inlet of Ringkøbing Fjord. It took some very hard work to build it back in the middle of the 1800s and it was meant to provide the locals with agricultural land. But just one year after its completion, the water broke through the dike in two places and the project was ended. Today, the connection has been re-established through two bridges that close up the holes, offering visitors a fantastic nature experience by allowing them to walk or cycle “on the inlet”. You can cycle across Bagges Dæmning as a short detour that ends just before Søndervig where you will be back on West Coast Cycle Route.
